EW7055 R2 Led indication

Postby brnrds » 18 Feb 2017, 17:58

I've bought an EW7055 R2 USB housing
There is no way I could see if the unit is On.

Drive access however displays a hardly visible pulsing red ledlight.

Since these units often could run all day as you don't turn it of, you would like to see if it's ON.
Inside is a triple wired LED. So that should be able to at least display two or dual colours.
Where or when or should that second or mixed colour being activated?
Or is it an indication of malfunctioning if it doesn't show other colours?

Dear brnrds,

You should be able to see drive activity as well however the led indicator is not bright. If for example the External enclosure isin a dark environment you should be able to see the disk activity.

I opened the front cover and indeed the green light was also working.
However in normal circumstances you cannot see the green light at all. Only when it's complete dark.
The cover has a red plastic filter which is a disaster for the weak green light.
The LED is mounted, that is to say primitive, under a kind of small wire support, far beside the small look through window and so luminosity gets mostly lost.
It's impossible to mount the LED more centred under it's window.
The best way should probably be to drill a hole in the front and put the LED through it if possible?
But that would break the guarantee.
Thanks for your reply.

Dear brnrds,

It is most likely that the shop will not accept modificated housing and give you further support regarding warranty.
Thanks for your remark. We will try to improve this for new batch.
